Life as an Real Estate Agent in France

I have a great house for sale but in order not to draw attention to it the elderly onwer has left the original dilapidated shutters in place. From the road it looks like an old barn, but it’s amazing once you get behind the shutters. High ceilings, large rooms, lovely traditional fireplace. The house also has the most amazing woodland filled with edible mushrooms and ferns. 1 hour before viewing I got lost in a field apparently the Sat Nav was still half a sleep as it was so early. Then the electricity  company turned off the electric for urgent repairs. Panic set in but after calling Elwin to pray, I found my way out of the field and the nice post lady in the lane  told me how to find the house. Just minutes before we arrived at the house the electricity came back. Yippee.  My client loved the house and has gone away to think about it, better hurry as it won’t be around long at this price.

Mary Mary…..How does your garden grow?

By doing nothing aparently .  On Saturday in a pile of soil we dug out from our barn floor 2 months ago. We  found these lettuce growing . We did not plant them so must be wind power. However, last year I spent a lot of time and effort  trying to grow lettuce five times. Not one lettuce survived .  Now we have these beauties with no effort they are the light green ones in the pic.

Fluff Rides Again

img_8027Never thought a dog could be so much fun. I am a bit old for my first pet. But never say never. Today he got in the back seat of the car as I unloaded the shopping. He loves going for car rides   After  30 mins I noticed he was still there but had moved to the drivers seat, I had to physical remove him as worried he may drive off, he hasn’t passed his test yet !

Tomatoes

its been over a year and so much has happened in France. I am still learning French after an arduous stint at Poitiers University, where most of the students in my class where 18-21 from China. They spoke several languages but avoided English so for the first time in France I knew what it was like to be the odd one out. One asked what a mortgage was during the role play of buying a hous!!!!  5 hours a day and no English spoken should be fluent in French after that but I put it down to age. Plus it was only one term. Anyway I am not giving up. Then I got a new job in April as an Estate Agent exciting, challenging, and full on. After a week taking pics of houses tonight I came home and made 9 jars of Pasta sauce for the winter. We have tomatoes coming out of our ears if that’s possible, desperately trying not to waste them, but eating tomatoes everday  the novelty has worn off even if they are as sweet as sugar. Will post pics when I find the widget to attach them. Just found the widget
